ANDREA KIELPINSKI

I am a painter and mixed media artist. Though I started my college career in visual art (at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago), I wound up as an engineer, a therapeutic musician, a math teacher, and a few other professions along the way before returning to visual art full-time.

My work explores the terrain between semi-realism and pure abstraction. I’m informed by myth and dream–stories that are “truer than true.” The formal relationships within the painting evoke moods, memories, and insights for me and, I hope, for the viewer as well.

Our world is precious, fragile, and joyously surprising. I am always searching to see with fresh eyes and to create from that open-hearted place. I hope my work can inspire you to see the world anew for a moment or two as well.
